We work with people living in the Maitland LGA which includes Rutherford, Gillieston Heights, Aberglasslyn, Woodberry and every suburb in between.
We have a strong focus to help families, young people and people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
I would like to thank the staff for all their hard work in the Feeding Frenzy program. It helped me get more confident cooking tasty meals. And thanks to the donors and volunteers who provide food through Oz Harvest. These are difficult times and without this assistance, it’s hard to eat well. You are all kind and wonderful people!
After my wife passed away, finding accommodation was difficult as I have minimal finances. The food support program has given me food, but also helped build friendships with people in my community. The MRCS staff are always thoughtful, often checking in to find out how we are coping. I really look forward to attending, always being treated with great friendship and genuine care. Thank you for shining this beacon of hope into my life!
Christmas is a hard time for lots of people. If you’re already facing difficulties feeding and clothing a family, trying to provide extra for Christmas gifts, events and special food feels overwhelming.
We work closely with local schools and community services to create and distribute Christmas Hampers for local families who are under pressure at Christmas time. Local businesses and generous individuals donate money so we can tailor hampers to suit individual family members, instead of just containing generic items.
Unlike our other services, individuals can’t nominate themselves to receive a Christmas hamper. Families must be referred to us by one of our partner organisations directly.
